Two Skidmorvians walk into a deli. The owner greets them. His name is Steve and this is his deli. Steve’s Detroit Deli. But this deli isn’t like most. It’s small. Really small. Like touch both walls while you stand in the middle small. And his sandwiches are surprisingly huge.
As the Skidmorvians discuss this humorous dichotomy, two gents overhear and find the conversation funny. They introduce themselves. Here from Los Angeles, they are cameramen shooting Dreamworks’ latest film, Need for Speed. Cameramen who love sandwiches.
An idea was born: A commercial for Steve’s Detroit Deli. The camera crew was in. Skidmore was in. Steve was in. Payment was thought to be a simple smile from Steve, but we all got a lot more than we bargained for.
ChowDownDetroit posted a photo of a Steve’s sandwich on Instagram. The photo got more than 330 Likes.
The Detroit News caught wind of the Steve’s Detroit Deli story and wrote an article about Detroit business collaboration.
There’s often a line out the door now that the secret is out about Steve’s delicious sandwiches.
