Summary
A Digital Strategist will be a leader, thinker, and doer — both internally and with our clients — in creating unique, on-brand, innovative and actionable strategies for website, app and digital projects. These strategies must meet, and will often exceed, our clients’ requirements in timing, budget and success metrics. The Digital Strategist is a collaborator, working with Account Team, Strategy Team, Creative Team and Development Team to ideate, create and realize digital projects. The Digital Strategist must be able to clearly communicate their big ideas—whether in person or in writing—to both internal and external audiences at all levels.
Responsibilities
- Invent new ways of solving old problems (BE CREATIVE)
- Be a digital expert—knowledgeable and informed about the digital world—in marketing, communications and technology trends and strategies (CHALLENGE)
- Be the user’s advocate, creating a user experience that solves their unique problems in creative ways (BE CREATIVE, CHALLENGE, DETAILS)
- Be a strong public communicator, able to present strategies and ideas—both internally and to clients (COMMUNICATION)
- Capture and respond to feedback in ways that value others and make them feel they are being heard and that their input is important (COMMUNICATION, INTEGRITY)
- Create strategies that are mindful of available timelines & budgets (DETAILS)
- Think holistically and create cross-disciplinary strategies that leverage the widest possible range of Skidmore’s skillset (TEAM)
- Participate in creating documents and written proposals that accurately and enthusiastically capture and sell the strategies (BE CREATIVE, CHALLENGE, COMMUNICATION)
- Remove “not possible” from your vocabulary; substitute it with “there is a way” (BE CREATIVE, CHALLENGE)
Tasks
- PRIMARY
- Ideate and invent digital strategies that solve users’ problems
- Create and document user stories, information architecture and UX
- Create proposals and other strategy-communicating documents
- Participate in making—and often leading—presentations to clients
- Research and fully understand our clients’ businesses and industries
- Communicate your ideas to coworkers
- Follow and read contemporary, traditional and digital publications and thinkers in the Digital and Creative industries
- SECONDARY
- Lead internal meetings
- Work with Digital Producer to create budgets
- Work with Digital Producer to create timelines
- Use and follow social media networks
- …and anything else required in the best interests of the Studio
