Bedrock’s ultimate Detroit directory

When your company is an industry leader, it’s important that everything you produce screams, “We’re the best in the biz!” When Detroit’s leading real estate firm, Bedrock, came to us looking to build interactive lobby kiosks for visitors and tenants in their buildings, we knew they had to be amazing. So we followed our Design Thinking process, put ourselves in the end user’s shoes, and evaluated what kind of information people would really want and how they’d like to get it.

Instead of settling on a typical directory, we pushed to create the ultimate resource for all things Detroit. This materialized as an app that includes everything from maps and nearby amenities to event and transportation recommendations. Visitors and tenants can now discover an art gallery opening, read about a great nearby restaurant, get directions, or find a taxi service – all with the swipe of a finger.

Each kiosk stands by the main doors of Bedrock-operated buildings so they are the first thing people see.

The entirely touchscreen kiosk makes using the app easy and puts helpful info right at users’ fingertips.

Because we designed the app from the ground up, we were able to brand it using Bedrock’s logo, colors, tone and overall look and feel.

We knew the app could be more than just a building directory, so we created content-rich categories to help users find useful info about Detroit.

“The Bedrock app is a fun, easy-to-use tool for everyone that passes through our buildings,” said Tamara Knapp, Executive Vice President at Bedrock Real Estate Services. “The fact that it’s customizable per building is perfect – we’re excited to install more as we continue to renovate our newest spaces.”
