Rediscovering Andiamo

While an influx of new restaurants is great news for a foodie, it can be problematic for the area’s more established restaurants. If you have Skidmore Studio on your side, it can also be an opportunity for growth.

In order to stay ahead of the current and incoming competition, Andiamo Italian Bistro came to Skidmore with a challenge to maintain their position as a metro-Detroit favorite. We started our Design Thinking process with a tour of the corporate kitchen and never looked back. Interviews with operators, surveys with diners, meals at competitors and input from the Executive Chef informed a campaign that increased year-over-year sales 20 percent. Combining print and digital, our team of strategists, designers and copywriters crafted a seafood promotion reintroducing the Andiamo brand. So how did it work?

Invitations to reconnect with Andiamo were mailed to a highly-targeted list of potential customers.

Messaging focused on the superior ingredients featured in the limited-time menu.

A dining card offering $25 off a purchase of $50 or more was included to incentivize recipients.

Current fans of the brand were introduced to the Coastal Cuisine menu via email and social media engagement.

A coordinating landing page provided detailed information about the promotion.

In the restaurant, diners received a special menu throughout the length of the promotion.

Promotional flyers were also included in check stuffers as a take home reminder.

During Coastal Cuisine’s 8-week run, Andiamo’s six locations reported a 20 percent increase in year-over-year sales! And that doesn’t even take into account the long-term impact of introducing new customers to the restaurants.

According to Joe Vicari, CEO and President of Andiamo, “This promotion exceeded our expectations and solidified our position as a metro-Detroit favorite. We are looking forward to seeing even more of Skidmore’s ideas come to life throughout the year.”
