Expedia came to Skidmore with a request to freshen up their web videos. Make them warm. Make them energetic. Bring them to life. With our 55 years of illustration history, we were excited to create something truly unique for such a respected brand. So we dove right in, exploring several styles and techniques.
As is often the case, we pushed the creative. And the client pushed back.
In order to align our work with Expedia’s established design elements, we challenged ourselves to add value without drastically changing the existing characters. The solution was simple: strengthen the subtleties.
With that in mind, we accentuated every detail. From the voice over to the final production, we took all the elements that normally go unnoticed and made them extraordinary.
We added a passport texture that provided a warm and distinct feel to each video.
We built off classic animation and production principles, such as transition effects, to add energy and make the videos’ flow more consistent.
The final result was a group of videos (Two Families and Custom) that were simultaneously distinct to Skidmore and Expedia’s style. The videos were so successful that not long after, we were approached to do an additional video for Expedia’s Canadian branch. In the end, we were proud to have helped a quality brand push their work further in the right direction.
